They Got the Led Out - Maybe not how you would expect...

Ok so I basically dig these guys. When you show up you first think you actually arrived at a Lynyrd Skynyrd show, due to the cowboy hats and amount of musicians on stage. Not necessarily a bad thing. However, once you are over that and just listen, the reason for more people is to mostly try to create some of the studio overdub type of feeling on the tracks. However, the logic behind this is questionable. Led Zep put on live shows - they did not have 7 people on stage - it was a different type of experience/energy. They are all great musicians and most sing. To cut to the chase in this review, most of the guitar work and musicianship does the music justice, I would say the way it's delivered tends to lack some of the incredible passion and volcanic energy of the original Zep. Finally, seeing this professional level group of dudes try to deliver a Led Zep concert was interesting it itself, and actually served, in my mind, to give me a new perspective to me at how truly awesome and incredible the original Zep actually were. I think Robert Plant had a truly unique voice and delivery that Page and Plant and the guys in Zep worked around to create original music that was crafted around and tailored to his unique style and ability. After seeing this, I don't think anyone, anywhere, at anytime in the future can really approach what Zep were able to achieve both on records and in live performance. Get the Led Out flies on the wax wings but gets melted before reaching the impossible goal. However, check them out they are pretty cool!! :-)
